Wedding Happy Hour at Cicada Club

February Wedding Happy Hour at Cicada Club was a hit!

The Wedding Happy Hour
celebrated it's launch at the posh Cicada Club in Downtown Los Angeles, on February 17th, 2009. Tray passed appetizers and a full bar where hosted by the venue.

Featured vendors made the evening a great success.

Invitation Specialist, Eng Tang of Tang Designs, fascinated the guest with beautiful entry vendor lists. Serena Montenegro of Serene Image Photography and Jennifer Emery of PBJ Candids provided the still photography to document the happenings.

Matt Sutherland of Matrimony Pictures performed videography magic which you can see here:
Magician, Joe Skilton wowed the guests with slight of hand.

Jacqi’s Cakes
delighted the tastebuds. Kelli Gruman, of Tall Hair Music, keep the grove on.

Caroline Hallak Haute Couture bridal attire, gave out gift certificates to 3 lucky brides.

Five Star Limo decorated Olive Street with a White Cadillac Escalade Stretch SUV Limo.

And Florist Karen Donovan delighted our eyes with flower arrangements.

The rest of our fabulous vendors enjoyed conversations over cocktails with the guests in this wonderfully elegant circa 1920’s venue.

About the venue:

Cicada Club and Restaurant

From the 30-foot ceiling to the plush custom-designed bar and lounge, Cicada has combined 1920s Art Deco with contemporary design elements to create an extraordinary atmosphere. The European style is further complemented by a sophisticated Northern Italian menu. 15,000 square feet--ideal for weddings, special events, and private parties.

This grand building was constructed in 1928 as the headquarters of one of the most prestigious and expensive haberdasheries in Los Angeles -- Alexander & Oviatt. During the early phases of construction of the Italian Romanesque styled building, Oviatt attended the 1925 Paris Exposition and decided to decorate his building in the new style.

When the building was completed, the sheltered lobby forecourt contained over 30 tons of glass by designer Rene Lalique. Many original pieces remain in the panels at the top of the lobby columns. Lalique also designed the mallechort elevator doors, mailboxes, and directories. Cicada's interior retains the elegant art deco fixtures, stair rails, and molded plaster ceiling panels.

Wedding Happy Hour + Cicada = AWESOME!

I performed at a reception at Cicada Restaurant back in June... and its a terrific venue!  I can't think of a better place to have the first Wedding Happy Hour event.

It's a real pleasure to be in the company of some true wedding professionals.  Every industry has a "cream of the crop" and the members of Wedding Happy Hour are all at the top of their fields.

I'm an award-winning, full-time professional magician and frequent performer at the Magic Castle in Hollywood.  I'll be performing some elegant sleight-of-hand during the cocktail hour... so please come up and say hi.  I'll be happy to show you something amazing!

Looking forward to meeting everyone,

Wedding Happy Hour Debut!

I am very excited to be a part of the first Wedding Happy Hour for future brides and others planning their event! I'll be there with some promotion pieces and a special booking offer only for W.H.H. attendees! Well done to Marcia and Jennifer who secured a great location like Cicada for us to mingle, drink, and get to know one another. See you on February 17th 2009!
